Shakespeare Garden Renovations: Revamp of the Renaissance

Nestled in a bustling city, the rows of beautiful flowers and high trees give refuge to any and all nature lovers desiring to escape the noise and clamor of humanity. For nearly a hundred years Shakespeare Park in Cedar Rapid, Iowa has been home to nature and theatrical art and entertainment that is sure to make its namesake proud. However, throughout the years it has been heavily damaged, particularly by the flood in 2008 and the derecho of 2020, leaving the once beautiful oasis in desperate need of renovation. The city of Cedar Shoals wants to revitalize the garden and not only restore it, but improve on it as well and once more make it a hub for the community. Improvements include installation of new walkways and a small performance area, installing seating, lawn areas, and planting beds, and demolition of some of the existing garden to make room for new ones. The Garden is not only its own community center, but epitomizes the City of Five Seasons perfectly, and is a little piece of heaven to residents, both present and future.
